The main reason housing associations and local authority officers choose the ANV Measurement Systems/Rion Noise Nuisance Recorders is that they are so quick and easy. The NNR-03 Noise Nuisance Recorder provides a quick, easy and cost-effective means of establishing whether a complainant has a credible complaint. Unlike other systems it’s all connected and ready to go inside the case. Switch it on (that takes about 5 seconds) and then press Start and the system is running. The easy to use handset clearly shows when system is recording audio. RF remote included as standard – especially useful for infirm complainants or when complainants are in bed. Data transfer is via SD™ memory card or by connecting the meter to a USB port on a PC (the SDTM card is then seen as a virtual disk). The AS-60 software displays a graph of level against time with icons indicating the presence of audio recordings. Audio recordings can be selected for playback with a click of the mouse and played back sequentially using the cursor buttons on your computer keyboard for rapid review and evaluation.
The NNR-03 Nuisance Recorder offers significant improvements over the best-selling Compact Nuisance Recorder and replaces both the Rion NL-32 based Compact Noise Nuisance Recorder and the Rion NA-28 based Noise Nuisance Analyser because it is upgradeable.
In its basic format the NNR-03 it is the same price as the Compact Nuisance Recorder which it replaces but offers the following significant improvements:
- Improved audio quality: data recorded as uncompressed wav files rather than compressed audio
- Improved recording pre-trigger options: 0, 5 seconds or 1 minute
- More flexible data storage options: Processed values down to 1 second resolution and raw data down to 100 msecond resolution can be stored simultaneously
- Improved Software: simply drag and drop data into AS-60 for rapid review of data and audio
- Upgradeable: you can add octave and third octave analysis to the system for detailed evaluation of noise issues (available early 2012)
Local authorities and housing associations just simply can’t provide a field officer to personally witness every alleged noise nuisance complaint. Investigations consistently find that a substantial proportion of complaints received by local authorities and housing associations are not justifiable. Many of our customers refer to this as ‘sorting the wheat from the chaff’. A Nuisance Recorder is cost-effective first step in determining whether a potential nuisance exists and our customers can save around £500 by using a Class 2 meter (the Rion NL-42) instead of the Class 1 Rion NL-52.
