Developed specifically for aeroacoustics, the Ultra-Thin Precision 48LX-1 and 48LA microphones from GRAS are only 1 mm high. They are supplied with practical mounting fairings which give rise to minimal l disruption of airflow for accurate measurements of sound at the boundary layer. They are suitable for both wind -tunnel and in-flight measurements. The microphones can be easily removed from the fairings/mount and calibrated in situ, with a normal acoustic calibrator using the appropriate adapter. GRAS Ultra-Thin Precision and GRAS 147AX surface-mounted microphones can also be used for measurements in confined spaces.
Away from the boundary layer, GRAS offer a huge range of microphone sets well-suited to the practical challenged of aerospace acoustic testing environments. These include the GRAS 146AE rugged free-field ½” microphone set, the GRAS 46AE standard ½” free-field microphone set and the GRAS 46BE ¼” free-field microphone set which can be used in high level noise environments (up to 160 dB).
Rion’s range of accelerometers complement the GRAS microphones. The Rion range of accelerometers includes single channel units that weight less than 1 gram, a tri-axial accelerometer weighing less than 5 grams, high temperature tolerant acceleromters, waterproof accelerometers and accelerometers designed specifically for nuclear reactor installations.
The RioNote allows for wireless connection of up 16 channels of sensors while the Norsonic 850 system allows for wired connection of many calibratable channels in up to 10 channel units.
Even the most complex of projects sometimes require rapid, simple sound or vibration measurements. The Rion NL-53 fulfils this purpose for sound, whist for vibration, the Rion VA-14, Rion VM-82A or Rion VM-63C offer really quick and easy means of obtaining vibration data.
