Sound power measurements are essential for accurately determining how much noise a machine or piece of equipment makes. This is important in a range of environments, but is invaluable in those where regulatory compliance and precision are needed for daily operations.
At ANV, we offer advanced and reliable solutions for sound power level tests and measurements. Whether needed for industrial equipment, consumer appliances, or environmental assessments, our systems are designed to meet both UK and EU standards for complete confidence.
Sound power refers to the total acoustic energy emitted from a noise source, measured per unit of time, regardless of the surrounding environment. Measurements are given as Sound Power Level (SWL) and typically expressed as decibels (dB re 1 picowatt). This differs from sound pressure, which can vary based on where it is measured and the acoustics of the space.
By focusing specifically on the noise source, SWL is a reliable measurement for comparing equipment and ensuring compliance with UK and EU noise regulations. Accurate sound power data is essential in a wide range of industries for environmental assessments, product labelling, and certification.
At ANV, we provide a range of sound power measurement solutions to align with your needs and deliver the accuracy required for secure, compliant work. One of our main suppliers is Norsonic, who have a comprehensive range of instrumentation for measuring sound power using Precision, Engineering, and/or Survey methods.
We offer a comprehensive range of these sound power measurement solutions, and can help you find the most suitable one for your needs.
The Nor850 Measurement System is a multi-channel acoustic analyser. The system can be based on channels in an Nor850-MF1 rack and/or multiple Nor140 or Nor145 sound level meters. Both rack-mounted channels and stand-alone sound level meters can be used in the same system. The system supports USB, LAN and WLAN connections.
The BS EN 61672 Class 1 performance of each channel and be verified by independent calibration laboratories to ensure traceability to national standards.
The Nor850 software can be used both as evaluation software for measurements from the Norsonic sound level meters and as control software. The software guides you in a uniquely intuitive way through the measurement routines according to common sound power standards such as ISO 3741, ISO 3743-1, ISO 3744, ISO 3745, ISO 3746 and ISO 3747.
The extended Sound Power application package contains required features for making more specialised tests, such as dual-chamber testing of heat-pumps, dynamic testing of earth-moving machinery, and similar. The entire test procedure can be controlled by a user-defined Scheduler for easy test repetitions.
The Norsonic Nor278 Reference Sound Source is equally suited to lab, field and survey measurements of sound power according to ISO 3741, ISO 3743-1 and ISO 3747.
The Norsonic Nor150 fitted with a sound intensity option and the sound intensity probe kit Nor1290 is a powerful tool for sound intensity measurements to determine sound power in accordance with ISO 9614. The remote control handle, using a smartphone for measurement control and display, forms a lightweight and easy-to-use system which enables single-handed operation. The Smartphone communicates via WiFi with the Nor150. The sound intensity probe can also be connected directly to the Nor150.
